About my first novel 'Călătorie prin ochii unui anonim'
Over 7 months ago, I embarked on one of the greatest challenges I’ve ever faced. At that time, there was no indication that I would one day bring a novel to completion. I can admit that my initial thoughts weren’t directed toward the beginning of a work of such length, nor was it even meant for public viewing; its main purpose was to serve as a personal journal, helping me keep my thoughts in order. All I did was write a few pages each day, representing fragments of my inner self, nothing more. Everything changed, however, as fascinating ideas began crossing my mind while I wrote, and so, at some point, the concept of a novel was born. I must admit I was scared at that moment. And if you’re wondering why, I can tell you that this wasn’t my first experience of this kind. On the contrary, I had come up with ideas and concepts I wanted to share ever since my high school years when I was just a kid, yet no such attempt managed to surpass the status of a draft. Nothing beyond 50 pages. That was because, at some point, I’d get stuck or lose interest, or I’d come up with something new, and the old idea would fade away. I suppose you understand that after several repetitive scenarios that didn’t end well in the past, there was no reason to believe I would eventually succeed in bringing such an endeavor to fruition. And yet, here we are—it happened.
Last week, I managed to finish the novel titled Journey Through the Eyes of an Anonymous One, and I can tell you that a powerful sense of pride filled my heart for quite some time. Not because I considered it a literary masterpiece (as I know I’m still far from that level) or because it will sell a great number of copies, but simply because I managed to complete such a challenging task. I’ve faced so many such tasks throughout my life, from elementary school, then high school, university, and now at work, but nothing compared to the multitude of emotions I experienced daily while working on my creation. And that’s because I poured my heart into it, consuming every part of myself to complete a book that I am (and I know I’m repeating myself here) extremely proud of. Because it’s mine.
From this point of view, it all began with a dream, somewhere around the age of 13. I don’t think I was any older. A simple person who wanted to write a book. As I mentioned, I tried hard back then, but my child’s mind couldn’t focus in an elaborate enough way to craft a novel. So I gave up. Now, however, I knew I had more strength. More skills. And ultimately, more determination. I gathered the courage and worked on it. To give you some insights into this work, in case you haven’t already read about it in my Facebook post (I’ll add a photo with the text somewhere below), the novel tells the story of a young corporate worker who, bored with the monotony of his own existence, decides to embark on the adventure of a lifetime with a few friends in a refurbished bus. And yes, I believe that the current manuscript stands out from others through the unique perspective offered by the anonymous one, the main character, whose name remains a mystery to the reader until the end. The book is practically a blend of his entries in his personal journal, offering a first-person view both of his own perception on conflicting topics within the community, containing both theoretical and practical elements from his experiences, as well as describing the adventure itself. The focus is evenly balanced between the characters around him and his own narrative self. If the details about myself mentioned mainly in the first part of the book are accurate or not, and if they reflect my life up to this point, I won’t say, but this book deserves to be taken exactly as it is. A theoretical dictionary with a fictional twist, a blend I found too interesting not to try.
As I wrote on Facebook, for the time being, there are only three links where the book can be read (they can be found at the end of the article), the first being free, and the other two available for around 10 RON (give or take, considering taxes). I don’t want to force anyone to pay for the current content, which is why I’ve included a free option as well, but if you feel the effort is worth valuing, I’m more than grateful for a potential purchase in the Google Store. One last point I want to touch on concerns the physical publication. Yes, viable options are actively being sought to make this happen, but at the moment, I don’t have too many details, as this world of book publishing is very new to me, but I hope to make my entry the right way. When I have more information about a potential publication, I promise to share it with you.
In conclusion, I don’t know where life will take me from here, but I do know that I’m extremely happy to have fulfilled both a dream and a purpose at the same time, and I feel that I can do much more in this direction, which is why I’ll always give my 100% to reach my true potential—a topic that, as a small spoiler, I touch on in a few lines in the book as well.
